Sources of Strength National Trainers, Robyn Weiner and Kelsey Hopstad, had the honor of attending and presenting at the 2026 Native American Suicide Prevention & Awareness Conference hosted by Fort Defiance Indian Hospital (FDIHB). The conference was held in Pueblo of Isleta, New Mexico.
Powerful Keynotes and the Strength of Storytelling
Conference attendees had a chance to hear from Navajo Nation leadership, the Honorable Dr. Andy Nez, 25th Navajo Nation Council Delegate, who discussed his personal connections to mental health and suicide prevention work on Navajo Nation.
Dr. Glorinda Segay, MA, the Indian Health Service Division of Behavioral Health Director shared about her personal story of resilience and strength in her keynote. Her inspiring and personal share highlighted how critical the strategy of storytelling can be. When we share about what helps, it can help others.
Sharing Sources of Strength
In addition to presenting on Sources of Strength, Robyn and Kelsey attended sessions exploring how Indigenous culture and traditional practices can strengthen suicide prevention efforts. They were also invited to be interviewed by FDIHB’s media team, providing an opportunity to share their experience at the conference and talk about the impact of Sources of Strength.

A Heartfelt Thank You
They’re so grateful to our partner at Tsehootsooi Medical Center at Fort Defiance Indian Hospital Board, Jacob Kaulaity – after attending a Train-the-Trainer with us in summer 2025, he reached out to invite us to attend and present.
