How Sources has Impacted My Life: Quinn Snell’s Leadership Journey with PLAC

Quinn is an 11th Grade Student at Corvallis HS in Corvallis, Oregon

When Quinn Snell first signed up for the Sources of Strength class at Corvallis High School, the primary feelings were nerves and hesitation. Stepping into the unknown is rarely easy, especially when you aren’t sure what to expect.

“I didn’t really know what Sources of Strength was,” Quinn recalls. “I knew that none of my friends were going to take the class.”

Despite that uncertainty, Quinn took a leap of faith. It was a decision that would ultimately reshape Quinn’s high school experience and future trajectory.

Finding Connection in Small Places

Quinn’s initial class was incredibly small, just four students. While a tiny class size might intimidate some, for Quinn, it was the perfect environment for growth.

“I got to build a close, special bond with everyone in the class,” Quinn says. Those deep, meaningful connections provided a safe space to explore new ideas and provided a powerful launchpad for leadership skills.

A Catalyst for Confidence

Sources of Strength didn’t just provide a sense of belonging; it ignited a passion for community impact.

“Sources of Strength started off my leadership skills with a bang,” Quinn shares. “I felt important and a valuable asset to the school’s community; I felt like I was doing something that mattered to people.”

That newfound confidence wasn’t temporary. Inspired by the program, Quinn joined the high school leadership class and has remained a dedicated member for three years, with plans to continue through graduation.

From Local Student to National Leader

Today, Quinn’s journey has come full circle. Quinn now serves as a member of the National Peer Leader Advisory Council (PLAC) Team, helping to shape the future of Sources of Strength for students across all of North America.

Quinn’s story is a powerful reminder that stepping outside your comfort zone, even when you’re the only one of your friends doing it, can lead to lasting personal growth and a massive impact on your community.

As Quinn reflects on the journey: “I will forever remember the impact that Sources had on me.”

Thank you, Quinn, for sharing your voice, your story, and your leadership!
