Winter holds a complicated mix of emotions for many of us. Shorter days, increased demands at work and home, disrupted routines, and a year’s worth of accumulated stress can all converge at once. And yet, winter also brings unexpected opportunities… moments to slow down, reconnect, and lean into the Strengths that help us navigate this season with intention and care.
At Sources of Strength, our vision has always been to Empower a Well World. This winter, we set out to empower a Well Winter too.
Over the past few weeks, more than 80 people from across the U.S. and Canada joined us for our Winter Wellness Sessions. We hosted a 90-minute interactive experiences rooted in connection, play, reflection, and, most importantly, turning toward Strength. These weren’t passive, “sit and get” webinars, they were human spaces filled with stories, laughter, thoughtful pauses, and honest conversations about what this time of year brings up for each of us.
Honoring What Winter Brings And What We Bring to Winter
We know the winter months can be heavy. Our aim wasn’t to gloss over that reality. It was to create a space where we could acknowledge what was present for us and explore the Strengths that help us withstand and move through those challenges.
Participants engaged in large and small-group conversations and some of our favorite virtual games with a winter twist. These weren’t just games for fun (though there was plenty of joy in the room) they were intentional practices to build connection, spark creativity, and remind us how vital play is to adult wellbeing.
Throughout the session, we invited everyone to reflect on questions like:
- What sources of Strength are supporting me right now?
- Where do I need to turn more intentionally?
- What helps me feel grounded, connected, or restored during winter?
Even within our short time together, the openness people brought into the space was powerful. Many of us found ourselves wishing there had been more time… more room to breathe and share, to reflect and connect, to be human and- of course- to turn to Strength.
Turning Intention into Practice: Free Winter Wellness Resources
As part of our commitment to support winter wellbeing beyond the session itself, we shared a set of resources you can use individually, with your teams, or at home:
- Individual Workplace Wellness Plan
A guided template to help you identify needs, supports, and Strengths at work.
- Practicing Strength at Home
A printable packet with simple, meaningful Strength-based activities to integrate into family or household routines.
- Winter Games Guide

- Winter What Helps Me Menu

We hope these resources help you continue practicing Strength, whether you’re seeking connection, calm, creativity, gratitude, or simply a reminder that you’re not moving through this season alone.
